Poori is very simple and easy to make. But in this recipe, you will know some simple steps needed to knead the dough and technique used for making poori soft and puffy.

Ingredients
  • Whole wheat flour – 2 cup
  • Salt – ¼ tsp
  • Melted Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Oil for frying
  • Water for Kneading
Cooking Instructions
  1. Add salt and melted ghee to whole wheat flour.
  2. Add little water at a time and knead well to form a firm dough.
  3. Divided into small pieces and make into balls and roll out into small circles. (3” inches diameter)
  4. Heat oil in a Kadai.
  5. Add one puri at a time and fry gently pressing down with the frying spoon in a circular motion.
  6. Turn over when puffed up and fry till golden brown. (Remove on absorbent paper)
  7. Serve hot.

Note

  • The most important step to make good puris is to make the dough correctly. It must not be sticky or loose but must be a tight dough. This help in puffing them well without soaking up oil.
  • Use up the dough immediately and do not rest it. If you are making in large quantities then, make the dough in batches. Frying the puris on a medium high flame works well foe me. Do test the first one as the heat generated varies from one stove to another.
