Chocolate Sponge Cake

In Indian style chocolate sponge cake recipe is made with the most basic baking ingredients that are easily available in every well maintained Indian household pantry and this recipe uses minimum of ingredients. The recipe is so easy that even a amateur would not go wrong with it as it is hassle free.

Dry ingredients

  • Maida - 1 Cup
  • Cocoa powder - 1/2 Cup
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • Powdered sugar - 3/4 Cup
  • Salt

Wet ingredients

  • Refined oil/ Unsalted butter - 1/4 Cup
  • Curd - 1/4 Cup
  • Milk - 1/2 Cup
Cooking Instructions
  1. Take a mixing bowl and add all the wet ingredients first. Mix properly using hand whisk or electric beater.
  2. Sieve all the dry ingredients to retain only finer particles. 
  3. In a small portions keep adding this in wet ingredients mixture. Mix everything thoroughly and make sure no lumps are formed.
  4. Now preheat oven at 180° or a kadai at low medium flame for about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Grease baking mould with butter and pour the mixture evenly.
  6. Bake in preheated oven or kadai for 35-40 minutes.( Insert a knife and if the mixture doesn't stick to the knife then your cake is ready )
