Mini Choco Lava Cake

An easy and thrifty way to prepare the Mini Lava cake without egg and oven in a traditional Appe pan. The texture and taste are very similar to the baked choco lava cake but much more efficient with the way it is prepared and the ingredients used. These lava cakes can be an ideal dessert recipe that can be served as a snack or as a light dessert after lunch or dinner.

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup
  • ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 21 pieces dark chocolate
Cooking Instructions
  1. Firstly, in a large bowl take 1 cup milk, ½ cup oil, 1 tsp vinegar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and ½ cup sugar
  2. Whisk and mix until sugar dissolves completely
  3. Now add ¼ cup cocoa powder, 1 cup maida, ¾ tsp baking powder, ¼ tsp baking soda, and ¼ tsp salt
  4. Mix gently using the cut and fold method
  5. Make sure to break the lumps and prepare a smooth lump-free batter.
  6. Further, to prepare the cake in Appe pan, make sure to grease the pan really well.
  7. Pour the cake and batter it till it gets the moulds.
  8. Place a small piece of dark chocolate in the centre.
  9. Cover the chocolate piece with cake batter.
  10. Tap the Appe pan twice to remove air pockets if present.
  11. Place on flame keeping the flame on very low.
  12. Cover and cook on low flame for 10 minutes or until the cake is cooked completely.
  13. After 10 minutes, open the lid and check if the cake is cooked.


  • Firstly, make sure to use good quality chocolate, else it will not melt.
  • Cook on really low flame else there are chances for the cake to burn.
  • Additionally, if you are not comfortable using vinegar then replace it with curd.
  • Finally, mini choco lava cake recipe can be prepared in advance and warm in the microwave for 10 seconds before serving.
