Butter Chakli

Butter Chakli is a very popular tea time snack. It is also very easy to make. A popular and traditional south Indian deep fried snack recipe made with rice flour. it is generally prepared during the festival seasons like Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi or for the feast for celebrations and occasions. But it can also be served as a tea time snack for any given day.

Ingredients
  • 2 Cup Water
  • 2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1.5 cup Suji (Rava)
  • 2 Cup Rice Flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
Cooking Instructions
  1. In a pan heat some water.
  2. To the hot water add cumin seeds, salt, and butter. Mix well.
  3. Once the water starts boiling add suji. Mix well.
  4. Let the suji mixture come together.
  5. Take it out in a bowl and allow it to cool slightly.
  6. Add rice flour. Knead well.
  7. Add water as required and knead to form a soft dough.
  8. Grease a chakli press with some oil and put a portion of dough in it.
  9. Press to form chaklis. Heat sufficient oil in a Kadai.
  10. Deep-fry chaklis till golden brown and crisp.
  11. Drain on absorbent paper.
