Avasara Vada

I will show you how to make spicy fun snacks that you like, if you like, try this snack once. Avasara Vada is a South Indian recipe that can be enjoyed with chutney, sambar, and sauce.

Ingredients
  • Rice flour – 1 cup
  • Plain flour - ½ cup
  • Gram flour - ½ cup
  • Onion – 1 finely chopped
  • White sesame seeds – 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds –  1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida – 1 teaspoon
  • Freshly grated coconut – 6 tbsp.
  • Green chilies – 3
  • Ginger – ½ inch
  • Coriander (chopped) – 2 tbsp.
  • Ghee – 1 and ½ tbsp.
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
Cooking Instructions
  1. Combine all the ingredients, except the ghee and oil, in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Season with salt, then gradually mix in water (1/2 cup) to make a thick stiff batter.
  3. Heat enough of oil for deep – frying in a kadhai.
  4. Using damp hands take ladleful of batter and flatten it into a round patty.
  5. Gently lower the patty into the hot oil and deep-fry, turning carefully, for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Serve hot with a chutney or sauce.
